Linux keep growing: Reach 5% market share in US

Seems that now that Windows 10 support is coming to an end, many people are looking for alternatives as a lot of computers cannot upgrade to Windows 11 but are powerful enough to work for many years. In that case, probably Linux is the best of them.

In my case, after trying for some months, I can say that I switched almost completely to Linux. I do nothing very special with the computer, just browsing the web, watching some YouTube, editing documents and playing games, tasks that I am pleasantly surprised with Linux. The last time I tried Linux must have been around 2015, and back then, most of the games didn’t work. However, nowadays, almost all the games that I have work out of the box through Steam Proton.

The only game that I play sometimes, and it is impossible to make it work, is League of Legends (LOL). These kinds of multiplayer games have some kind of anti-cheat that uses the Kernel of Windows, and it is impossible to play on Linux. Maybe if Linux users keep growing, they will release a way to play.

Aside from that, everything works great, at least in my case. In my case, I use onlyoffice (very easy to install, just search for it in the software centre) as it has better compatibility than the default LibreOffice, and can even open the Korean format .hwp, a thing that Microsoft Office cannot do. Therefore I feel that I am going to stick with linux for a long time, at least for personal use. Before buying a new computer, or just using Windows 10 without updating, I suggest giving Linux a try, as you probably will be surprised.
