The 2025 summer has been the warmest in Korea since 1973

Finally, September arrived, and summer is coming to an end, so it is time for the meteorology agency to release the report about last season. I had the feeling that this summer has been really hot, even though I didn’t experience many summers here, I felt that this year more warmer than last year.

Seems that my feelings were right, but by a small margin. According to KMA (Korean Meteorology Agency), this has been the warmest summer since 1973. According to them, the average temperature from June 1st to August 31st, the average temperature has been 25.7 degrees Celsius, just 0.1 degrees more than last year. Even though I am used to hot weather as I came from Spain, I really hate it.

If you think about it, this is a very high average temperature. To keep that high temperature, the night temperature cannot go down, and this is what happens in Korea. If you wanna sleep at night, you really need an air conditioner. This year has had 14 tropical nights, which means that the temperature has been over 25 degrees.

During the daytime, the average temperature has also been very hot, with an average temperature that reached 30.7 degrees. Therefore, if you wanna visit Korea, probably summer is not the best season if you wanna enjoy your visit. These months are the time of the year when more patience is required to endure them, stay indoors, and have a lot of Korean ice cream.
