The CEO of one of the biggest video game studios in Europe, Ubisoft, had responded to the petition Stop Killing Gates, stating that things cannot last forever. It is worth mentioning that one of the games that inspired the protest was released by Ubisoft, ‘The Crew’. It is basically an Arcade racing game, that could be single player but forced always online mode.

One day, they just disconnected the server, and the people who had bought the game got nothing. They cannot play anymore, and this game was not cheap when released. From Ubisoft I didn’t played that many games (I remember some Formula 1 games and maybe the first Assassin’s Creed), but I am not going to buy anything more from them.
Obviously, I don’t expect that online games will work forever. But I don’t want they to force people to go online to keep their business. If they plan to close a game like this, they should say clearly when they sell the game. Something like “this game is going to work until this date”. But doing it like this, even if they can legally do it, is going against the customers. Maybe I should show him my Sega Megadrive (Genesis in the USA) working for 30 years later. I expect that someday it will break, but until that day arrives, I wanna still enjoy my games, even without online.

I love my old retro games.
Nowadays, games became too commercial. 😐😬 Well, in the past, it was commercial too, but we can still keep and play it. We need an evolution in terms of this!! 😆
