Running controversy in Korea.

Recently, I read an article about running in Korea, and how some people are disturbed by it. For me, Korea is a great country for running, as it is very safe and has numerous pathways that are separated from traffic. Sometimes I run (even though I don’t take it too seriously), and it is a very beautiful experience. In my opinion, Koreans are very kind and respectful.

However, as in any other place on earth, idiots exist. The article complains about people who run without a shirt. For me, that’s not a problem, as I have rarely seen anyone running without wearing a shirt. Also, maybe it is because of cultural differences, as in Spain it is common to see people without wearing a shirt. I don’t like it, but for me it could be acceptable.

However, what I don’t like is the people who scream at others to move aside, as if they were coming to beat the world record. If a road is narrow, and you cannot pass, just stop running for 20 seconds, and when you can, overtake. You are not going to die for stopping running for a few moments, but there is no need to disturb anyone. Also, if you run in a group, you should go to wide spaces, in the end, it’s a matter of respect.

In my case, I would never run without a shirt, because I know that South Korea is a conservative country and someone might feel disturbed. You are not in your country and should adapt to where you are. Also, screaming at other people to make way is unacceptable (except if you are Usain Bolt and you are beating the world record, in which case you should go to a field to run). Doing that is being a total idiot.

And that’s my complain of the day.
