OpenAI wanna release a chat assistant for adults

Recently I read an article about OpenAI’s intention to release a version of ChatGPT for adults with explicit content. I assume that this is good from the point of view of the company, but I don’t think that it is a good idea for the users.

Many times, these kinds of services are an easy way to gain money, as adult content always sells these kinds of services. And it is true that if OpenAI don’t do that, someone else is going to do that. However, OpenAI, have clarified that it will be only available to adults.

But the problem that I see here is about privacy. I wonder how they are going to check if someone is an adult or not, respecting the privacy, because if data leaks could happen, like the Discord case recently, with a lot of ID credentials leaked.

Aside from that, there is the impact that this kind of thing could have on a real relationship. An AI girlfriend (or boyfriend) is always going to accept whatever you say or do as it is programmed for that. Even though this could be good for some people, in the long term, it could affect how people relate to each other and what the expectations are when young (or not young) people wanna get a couple for the first time.

However, as this kind of technology is impossible to stop, in the long term will see the result. I hope that is not as negative as some people expect.
