Recently, it has been revealed that one of the most popular services, Discord, suffered a data breach, and the IDs of 70,000 users have been leaked. Apparently, the attackers focused on an outsourced firm which helped Discord during the process of getting an ID on the platform.

Anyway, I don’t use this platform, but this is why I am against using these kinds of requisites to create an account wherever. Nowadays, these kinds of leaks are becoming increasingly common, and if you are a victim, in reality, there is almost nothing you can do about it. Now, the attackers who have the information, and if they use your ID to ask for a loan, they can do it. Maybe, and only maybe, if you are lucky, the bank can suspect something and block the request. But if they want, they can just try again with another bank with a weaker fraud protection system.
Also, it is not only the financial aspect. If they have your ID, they know where you live and how you look, and also your age. So it is possible to do a lot of illegal actions with information. That’s why I am not a fan of these kinds of systems for verification. Every system could have problems, but for me, it is not a good idea to check your real details with an ID card. These kinds of systems cause more problems than solutions, but if you are a victim of this data leak should be careful with possible scams in the future. Keep in mind that it could be very focused as your ID card information is already published. Take care.

Omg Discord too? Must be chinese or north korean hackers. They are very notorious. Hacking is another industry in north korea, they make money like that. This is like online pirating. Sometimes I miss analog lifestyle 😅😁 ㅋㅋ
