I watched the last Formula 1 race, this time in the iconic circuit of Monza. The race was interesting, especially in the first laps, which saw a huge fight for the first positions. After that, the race became more stable, with Max Verstappen and Norris chasing him, followed by Piastry.
McLaren knew that Norris could not overtake Verstappen on track, so they decided to do a different strategy, using soft tyres (with more grip but less resistance to wear) to catch him. When they did the pit stop, the team made a mistake. The front left tyre couldn’t be changed properly, and due to this, Piastry gained the second position.

Piastry is a very good guy and accepted to give back the position to Norris, and does not create a crisis with his team, even though they are fighting for the championship. However, I have no doubts that if Verstappen, Hamilton, or Alonso were in that situation, they wouldn’t give the position back. And my opinion is that he shouldn’t have had to bring back that position.
This is racing, and the mistakes are part of the sport. This could happen to Piastri next week, and I would think the same. However, from Piastri’s point of view, it makes sense. He is the leader of the championship, with a huge advantage for now. However, the season is long and this result could make a difference. Hope that he doesn’t have to remember this race at the end of the season.
