Is your smartphone a focus of infections?

Today I read an interesting article about how we clean our smartphones and whether it could be a source of infection. If you think about that, the smartphone is an item that always comes with us, and we always use it every time and everywhere. Therefore is very difficult to avoid that risk.

Recently an Australian university conducted a study about this topic. They asked 165 healthcare professionals and about 98 per cent believed that their phones were contaminated. Therefore I wonder if the remaining 2 per cent were just too optimistic. More than half (52 per cent) admitted to using their smartphones in the bathroom, which in my experience seems a low percentage.

After analyzing 30 phones, the experts found several kinds of bacteria, including E.coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, therefore it is a hotspot for many kinds of bacteria.

Anyway, if you wanna clean the smartphone well, the best way is to use products specifically designed for that purpose. Many people use alcohol to clean it, but according to the experts, you can damage the protective coating that the phone has. And considering that most of us use the phone constantly, even when cleaning the dishes cooking, or as the article mentions, in the bathroom, it is important to keep it clean as much as possible. It is recommended to clean it at least once per week.

  1. I regularly disinfect my phone, watch and even remote using alcohol swab 😁
I heard that some phones are more dirtier than toilet. 😅 Better to disinfect often and I don’t care if my phone get damaged because of that but I doubt it and never got damaged because of this. ☺️
