South Korea reaches the longest life expectancy in the OECD

Today, I have good and bad news at the same time. A report informs that South Korea has reached a life expectancy of 83.5 years, the longest in the OECD. In some way, this is good news, because it means that Koreans live longer than any other country but at the same time are bad news.

These are also bad news because South Korea has a very low natality rate, and even though the data has improved slightly in the last months, still a huge problem and it is even threatening the future of the country. Many reasons caused this problem, Korean society is very competitive and it is difficult for women to give birth to children. However, this is changing slowly, and immigration could mitigate the problem partially, even though immigration could also cause problems if they are not able to adapt to Korean society’s rules or if they cause insecurity problems. Therefore, they should control the kind of immigration that arrives in Korea.

Anyway, let’s see the good side of this news, Koreans are living long lives and it seems that they are healthier than average. So we should take care of our health, as it is the most important thing.
