Recently, a report based in Japan states that young employees are afraid of answering the phone, and even some of them quit their jobs because of this anxiety. But what could be the origin of this?

Well, if you are old enough to remember, before the arrival of mobile phones (not smartphones, mobile phones), if you wanted to communicate with your friends you had to call to your friend’s house, and probably, if you were a child, your friend’s parents will pick up the phone. No other option.
However, with the arrival of smartphones, phone calls were much more expensive, and young people started to ditch calling and use sms instead, which were much cheaper. With the arrival of smartphones, this got worse, with free messaging apps like Whatsapp, Kakao, or Signal.
In my opinion, this could have affected this situation, many young people are just not used to talking on the phone, and don’t like it. Also in the job environment this got worse, as you have the responsibility of doing it properly.
